Recently, CAMSENSE Technology officially released its new generation Ring-less 6DOF VR Controller based on spatial positioning technology. As a product developed and launched by CAMSENSE in the field of XR interaction, the new generation Ring-less VR Controller has been upgraded in terms of product appearance, algorithm accuracy, performance, and other aspects, which is expected to bring a new experience space to the VR industry.
The Ring-less 6DOF VR Controller independently developed by CAMSENSE is a VR Controller that uses infrared sensors and IMUs, supplemented by deep learning to achieve high-precision motion tracking. Compared with the mainstream traditional VR controllers on the current market, its biggest feature is the ring-less of its appearance. In the past, the accuracy and real-time performance of VR controllers in tracking relied more on the controller's ring, which identified information through LED infrared lights on the ring, and then conducted controller positioning and pose simulation calculations. And CAMSENSE' ring-less design not only expands the design space of the controller's appearance, but also greatly avoids the possible problems of movement collision and other issues that may exist in the use of the original ring controller, which is more in line with user usage habits.
In order to achieve accurate positioning and tracking of the controller in a ring-less state, the CAMSENSE team has conducted a lot of research and development work. Firstly, in order to better anchor and capture the positioning of hand movements, the research and development team collected a large amount of hand training data. Through rich multimodal hand pose data, combined with a prediction network of multi eye fusion and temporal information, stable hand pose output was achieved.
Secondly, based on the accumulation of technology on ring controller, CAMSENSE has independently built a multi-sensor based data production platform. By optimizing the fusion algorithm of hand posture and IMU data, it enriches and adjusts the effect of switching between different states and scenes, and designs automated annotation algorithms to improve data production efficiency. By expanding various technologies, the positioning and tracking of the controller in the absence of LED observation has been compensated, ultimately achieving accurate tracking effect of the controller without a ring.、

With Quest3 and PICO gradually improving their technical layout, ring-less controllers are becoming the mainstream solution for next-generation VR handle interaction.
